Standards Based Grading at Cedar Middle School
We are so excited to be able to offer standards-based grading to our students this year. We have multiple teachers in each grade level piloting this grading prior to the district moving forward in all schools.
Standards-Based Grading is simply reporting performance on each learning target or skill. In our district, this will include academic standards, concepts, and practices from the Utah core, as well as the Iron County essential skills and dispositions. Each standard or skill will be measured on a scale from one to four as defined by proficiency scales. These proficiency scales will be housed in a program called MasteryConnect. The district will be sending emails to all parents on Monday regarding this program.
Periodically throughout the year we will be sending information home to our parents regarding how standards-based will work. You are also welcome to visit our website where there are many videos and questions answered. Watch for information coming home Monday with a step by step guide on how to access MasteryConnect which is where you will see your child’s progress.
Standards Based Grading Parent Information Night
All parents are invited to an information night on Monday August 19th from 5:30 – 6:30 in the lunchroom. We will be doing a presentation on how standards-based grading works and answer any questions you might have.
