Welcome to United States History I. You can learn more about this course by clicking on the About Course link. In a nutshell, this course is a required course of all 8th grade students. It covers the time period from the dawn of humankind to just after the end of the U.S. Civil War.

About Mr. Durfee - I have been teaching for over 25 years. I have a bachelor's degree in accounting, business & Japanese and an advanced degree in accounting as well as secondary ed. certification in history, Japanese and numerous business and computer technology areas of study. I have taught at the middle school, high school and university levels. Courses taught include: United States History, Accounting, Economics, Personal Finance, Website Design, Computer Animation, Beginning and Intermediate Guitar. In addition to teaching I have worked in international tax accouting in Dallas, Texas with the firms KPMG- Peat Marwick and the Trammell Crow Company.

I have been teaching at Cedar Middle School since the school was moved to our current facility back in 2006. Currently, I teach United States History I and the Education Technology (Multimedia) courses. I have also taught Guitar and Keyboarding here at CMS.
